Congratulations on your decision to marry! The Olympia Unitarian Universalist Congregation would be delighted to be a part of your celebration. Your wedding or union ceremony at the Olympia Unitarian Universalist Congregation will be a joyous and memorable occasion. The following pages contain information about our building and the services that we can provide for you.
| Requirements | ||
| Our services are available to the larger community with no requirements of membership. | ||
| Getting Started - Setting the Date | ||
| Arrangements for the wedding or union date are to be made in the church office. The date will be cleared on the church calendar and you will be asked to fill out a Facilities Use Agreement. The church office hours are Monday through Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. | ||
| The Officiant | ||
If you wish one of our clergy to officiate at your ceremony, plan on several meetings for pre-marital counseling and for planning the service. Appointments for these sessions will be made directly with the officiant. The first meeting with the officiant will preferably be at least thirty days before the ceremony. If you choose an officiant from outside the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, please let us know the individuals name, title and telephone number at least thirty days before the service. |
| The Marriage License | ||
Your marriage license should be obtained from the County Auditor up to sixty days before the wedding date. There is a three-day waiting period between the time of application and the time the license is valid. Please bring your license to the minister at least one week before the wedding. Also provide the names of your two witnesses. The church can provide a Certificate of Union for those who request one. |
| The Wedding Coordinator | ||
Our efficient and friendly wedding coordinator will work with you from the moment you walk in for your rehearsal to the moment your reception begins. She will assist you to make sure all the details you have been working on will come together at the end. She will provide answers to questions regarding the facility, procedures and decorations. Services provided by the wedding coordinator:

Subject to availability, our Music Director can provide your music or help you with referrals to other musicians. You are also welcome to provide your own musician. Arrangements are made directly with the musician. Fees are paid directly to the musician. A grand piano is available. |
| Decorations | ||
Select the florist or decorator of your choice. Decorations are the responsibility of the wedding party. The church can provide a small candelabra, candle holders and vases if needed. Floral arrangements should be suitable for the space they will occupy. Please have your florist deliver flowers during regularly scheduled office hours unless other arrangements have been made with the wedding coordinator. |
| Sanctuary | ||

The sanctuary seats approximately 150 people. The sanctuary can be set up in several possible configurations. The wedding party is responsible for set-up and for returning furniture to the original arrangement. Set-up is available subject to a custodial fee. Please check with the wedding coordinator about ongoing church events. There may be decorations in the sanctuary (for example, the church has a specific look during the winter holiday season). |
